Movie night this Thursday

We’re having another movie night this Thursday night (April 17)…but we’re going to change things up a bit. 

From here on out, we’ll be starting early on designated movie nights, so show up around 6-6:15 and we’ll have some pizza and snacks, and then at 6:30 pm we can start the movie.  This will give us a chance to have a discussion afterward if we want.

This time around we’ll be watching “Medicine Man,” partially in part because next week is Earth Day and it has some of those themes, but it also touches deeply on the themes of justice and injustice we’ve been talking about lately…but not in a heavy way (lots of lighthearted parts and action and great cinematography throughout).

Tomorrow night is movie night.  We’re giong to watch The Mission with Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons.  The movie is just over 2 hours long (125 minutes) so we should be done just after 9 pm.  Please try to come early enough so we can hit “play” as close to 7:00 as possible.

This Thursday will be the first of many movie nights to come, and we’ll be kicking it off by watching William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet.  What better way to get ready for Valentine’s Day than with a story of love and tragedy? 

We will press “play” at 7:00 pm (the movie is exactly 2 hours long).

I will take care of the popcorn, so bring a 2 liter pop of your choice to share.

Thursday Night (Dec 20 — the first day of Christmas break) at 7 pm, we’ll be watching everything is spiritual by Rob Bell.   We’ll pull some couches out, make some popcorn, and kick back to watch and hear some pretty cool stuff.

UPDATE: the other day we talked about changing this to another night…but it’s going to have to remain on the original night.
